Last week I went to Philadelphia to see Ben Peterson's artwork in the show Urbanism at the Philadephia Academy of Fine Arts. PAFA was the first art school and art museum in the United States. It is on Broad Street a couple blocks from City Hall. It was the first art show I had gone to in a while and I was pleased with it. Ben's work is incredibly detailed and impressively scaled. Last week I had the christening event at my new space at 56 Bogart in Bushwick. It was a beautiful intimate reading. My old friend Noah Gershman was in town from LA touring his new book of poetry The Enthusiast and needed a place to read. We pulled together a quick group to accompany him. Bonnie Pipkin read from her novel, Presenting Dazzle Zoe, which she just finished the first draft of and Rob Bronco of the Wild Yaks read from his 2003 journal. It was really a lovely little event full of champagne, fire works, good friends and lots of love. We ended the night at the Narrows with shots and what have you....
It Looks Cool - Mary and me outside her studio on Bogart during the Bushwick Open Studios. It was the fifth year. Somebody made a blog post about it that featured a photo of us but Nami took this one. It Looks Cool!
