#OccupyWallStreet

I went to #OccupyWallStreet.  I was curious about what was happening there because I had heard conflicting accounts.  It was in Zuccotti Park down on Broadway. We came during the general assembly which is a daily status meeting.  Speakers shouted phrases and the crowd repeated them.  It was drizzling.  There was about 100 people there. Signs. Two signs.  I talked to the lady on the right, she moved to the US from Puerto Rico in 1964, now she lives in Fort Greene. She showed me the other side of her painting.  It was odd.  "?" Here is a picture of my parents.  Dr. Cornel West has his back to them.  He had just finished speaking, about revolution and making the...

Hearts for Burberry

I'm in love with Burberry Prorsum's Spring 2012 collection. Some of the standouts were the parkas and coats, done in vibrant colors and paired with patterned skirts. Chistopher Bailey's designs showcased artisanal hand work, using wood beads, rafia flourishes, and woven leather to adorn his, as he called it, "joyous, happy, and upbeat" collection. Actually, the collection makes me kind of sad since I WANT it so bad, but don't have a wallet as big as my fashion fantasies... Take a looksy: An expertly tailored parka done in sophisticated colors. MY PHILOSOPHY This painting depicts some of my philosophy, specifically that dualities like Yes and No, Right and Wrong exist as part of the same workflow, that...

Rooftop dinner with I8NY

My brother Jonathan Meyer and his buddy Will Griffin started a sandwich stand at the Williamsburg Smorgasburg called I8NY. Each week they offer 2 sandwich choices and inevitably they are both kick ass. This last weekend the Brooklyn Grange rooftop farm hosted them in serving a 4 course meal which was tasted great and was effortlessly executed.  Pair it with the romantic and magical setting and the sold out 40 person dinner had quite a night. This cooking duo is poised for great things with several weddings lined up and another dinner this Sunday. They are providing food for my opening party this weekend and you can always visit them every Saturday at the Smorgasburg.  Williamsburg waterfront park between N 6th...
